Tunisia, Oct 10 (EFE).- Thousands of Tunisians took to the streets of the country's capital Sunday to protest against what they consider a "coup" staged by the President of the Republic, Kais Saied, who on Jul. 25 suspended the parliament, dismissed the Government and granted himself extraordinary powers.Around 3,000 protesters occupied the central Habib Bourguiba avenue under a more extensive police deployment, after the authorities did not grant them permission to hold a march on the adjoining avenue of Mohammed V. According to observers, more than 5,000 people flocked to Avenue Bourguiba, to demonstrate at the call of various parties opposed to President Kais Saied, including the Islamist-inspired Ennahdha party.
