Sudan's Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok signs a 14-point deal with top general Abdel Fattah al-Burhan to restore the transition to civilian rule, nearly a month after a military coup, at the presidential palace in Khartoum. The 14-point deal provides for the reinstatement of Hamdok as prime minister and the release of civilian leaders. IMAGES
"I tried my best to stop the country from sliding towards disaster," Hamdok said in his resignation speech.

The resignation of Sudan's prime minister leaves the military in full command and threatens a return to the repressive policies of the regime of ousted strongman Omar al-Bashir, analysts say.
Sudan's deposed prime minister and the top general who ousted him a month ago signed a breakthrough deal Sunday to reverse the military takeover, but protests continued and a teenager was killed.
