Portuguese, German and British investigators begin their second day of searching on the banks of a reservoir in southern Portugal, in a new effort to uncover information on the 2007 disappearance of British toddler Madeleine McCann. German Chancellor Oalf Scholz inaugurates the Christmas tree for the year 2022 at the Chancellery in Berlin in the presence of a children's choir. To save energy, the tree will be lit for much less time than in 2021, according to a government spokesman. IMAGES
