Villahermosa, Mexico, Dec 4 (EFE- EPA).- Armando, 58, is the Santa Claus who every Christmas for the past seven years has plied the streets of Villahermosa, the capital of Mexico's southeastern Tabasco state in Rodolfo (his taxi) to receive letters from kids and distribute presents and smiles to them.(CAMERA: Manuel López)SOUNDBITES FROM ARMANDO, TAXIDRIVER AND FROM ALFREDO, USERARMANDO: "This initiative is born from the heart, it is not lucrative. Maybe it is the month that I have less income because I have to walk in the collection and they talk to me anywhere and I have to go in the taxi because that is the tradition. Where Santa Claus invites me there, and in payment, they give me toys and with that, we are making the number of children we want to reach "ALFREDO: "It is a magnificent gesture because at this point there are no people who do this with passion and love"
This festive aquarium exhibit is really making a splash at the Guadalajara Zoo in Mexico. Zoo Biologist Eric Cruz dons a red and white Santa suit before taking the plunge and entertaining visitors. Eric really got into the holiday mood after participating in this latest project especially designed to put a big Christmas smile on the faces of visiting children. Who knows, maybe mermaid children also have an aquatic Santa Claus. The biologist is in charge of the aquarium and took it upon himself to realize his own project, finding the proper Santa gear and setting up the exhibit. When he dives, he constantly receives a steady supply of oxygen through a special tube and breathing mask. The transparent glass allows him to interact with the kids and even pose for pictures with them.
Larry Jefferson, a retired US army veteran from Texas, became the first African American Santa Claus hired by the Mall of America in its 24-year history. The black Father Christmas took photos with both nice and naughty tots in the largest shopping mall in the US, located in Bloomington, Minnesota. Jefferson signed a four-day contract to work exclusively for the Santa Experience studio located in the nation's biggest shopping centre and finished his last day as Santa on Sunday. The event did stir plenty of controversy online. A popular Minneapolis daily newspaper and website called the Star Tribune had to shut down its comment section attached to an article on the topic due to influx of racist posts. Larry stayed merry and in good cheer despite the barrage of negativity - he had a simple and effective trick to brush off the haters. The lines to see the first black Santa at the Mall of America were long and the kids left happy. What do you think about Larry Jefferson's Santa Claus?
Germany is one of the countries where children don't receive the visit of Santa Claus. Chirstkind or Christ Child is the gift bringer created by Protestant tradition and children visit this angel-inspired figure to ask their Christmas wishes.
