Riding his camel, Santa Claus, a Palestinian with a red suit and a white beard, roams the streets of the Old City of Jerusalem, greeting people and wishing them a Merry Christmas.
As the pandemic rages, children's visits with Santa Claus are going virtual -- to protect both them and the men in high-risk groups who dress up as old St. Nick. In Illinois, this is the first year in 81-year-old John Sullivan's 30-year career playing Santa Claus that he is not seeing children in person -- but he's adjusted to virtual visits.
Santa’s Grotto Live went live in November and has already received more than 500 bookings.
Some 50 people from around the world descend upon Jerusalem dressed as Santa Claus to celebrate Orthodox Christmas. The tour of the Holy Land included a swim in the Dead Sea, south of the West Bank city of Jericho.
