Sen. Lindsey Graham is one of Pres. Donald Trump's biggest defenders. Trump spent part of his Christmas with Graham in Palm Beach, Florida. People are waiting to see if Trump sign the COVID-19 relief bill. Trump has previously expressed his support to provide Americans $2,000 in COVID relief funds, instead of the proposed $600 package. Graham tweeted his belief that Trump wants to sign a COVID package providing all Americans with $2,000 checks. "I am convinced he (Trump) is more determined than ever to increase stimulus payments to $2000 per person."
In what Italy's prime minister said was 'not an easy decision,' PM Giuseppe Conte has put the country on lockdown for the holidays. Business Insider reports Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte told reporters that experts fear there will be a jump in COVID-19 cases over Christmas. Italy wasn't the only European country to tighten restrictions over the holidays — the UK and Germany have both announced heightened coronavirus restrictions. Johns Hopkins University data reports that as of Saturday, Italy had recorded over 1.9 million confirmed cases of coronavirus since the pandemic began. Thus far, nearly 68,000 deaths from COVID-19 have been reported in Italy.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggested that stimulus negotiations could stretch on after Christmas if necessary. "If we need more time, then we take more time." Pelosi said there has to be a bill and Congress "cannot go home without it." Republicans and Democrats are struggling to reach a pandemic relief deal. Business Insider reports that talks have stalled this week.

Now, Business Insider reports the head of Trump's legal team has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, COVID-19. David Bossie tested positive on Sunday. Bossie is not a lawyer but is a frequent contributor to Fox News. Several others in Trump's inner circle have also recently caught COVID-19, including HUD Secretary Dr. Ben Carson and White House chief of staff Mark Meadows.

President Donald Trump has changed his thinking, and now says he wants a big stimulus bill passed before the general election on November 3rd. Fed Chair Jay Powell also wants to see one passed and has warned that without one, the US economy's recovery will surely falter. But the Republican-led Senate hasn't passed a new coronavirus relief bill since April 21st, and shows little signs of doing so before the election. According to Business Insider, the GOP is far more concerned with getting the Supreme Court tilted to the right by having Amy Coney Barrett confirmed. For more than five months, Congress has held up a comprehensive stimulus package for tens of millions of Americans and left them in limbo. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wants a so-called 'skinny' bill, while House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is holding out for far more for the American worker.
