Taiwan expresses 'deep regrets' after Nicaragua cuts diplomatic ties

"Taiwan deeply regrets that the Ortega government has decided to disregard this longstanding and close friendship", says foreign ministry spokeswoman Joanne Ou after Nicaragua announced it was breaking diplomatic ties with Taiwan in favour of China.
