CNN Reports that House Republicans met with Donald Trump and VP Mike Pence. They discussed their plan to overturn the Electoral College votes in January. Senate Majority whip John Thune slammed their efforts. "I think the thing they got to remember is, it's not going anywhere." Indiana Congressman Mo Brooks believes "we have multiple senators, and the question is not if but how many." Georgia Rep. Jody Hice said he would lead an objection to Georgia's electors on Jan. 6th.
Grave concern is growing among senior White House advisers about the people President Donald Trump has been listening to lately. CNN reports Trump has turned to a fringe group of advisers peddling increasingly dubious tactics to overturn the results of the election. That's generated new levels of uncertainty at how Trump will resist the coming end of his tenure. The coterie includes conspiracist lawyer Sidney Powell, disgraced former national security adviser Michael Flynn, and onetime chief strategist Steve Bannon. Other voices in Trump's ear are those from hawkish trade adviser Peter Navarro and the eccentric founder of the retail website Overstock. Sources close to the President say his advisers are particularly worried about what Powell may convince him to do in the coming days. Through it all, Trump has mostly abandoned the day-to-day running of government.
On Sunday, Pres. Donald Trump blasted his former national security advisor, John Bolton. Bolton was critical of Trump over a NY Times report saying he was considering martial law to overturn the 2020 election. "What would Bolton, one of the dumbest people in Washington, know?" In the NY Times story fmr. NSA advisor Michael Flynn said Trump should utilize the military to "rerun" the presidential election. Bolton called such an action "appalling."
