Texas House Considers Possibly Discriminatory Child Welfare Bill

Description

The Republican-dominated Texas House of Representatives will consider this week a measure that would affect adoption and other child welfare services. The bill's sponsor claims it would protect faith-based groups, but critics think it could allow for discrimination based on religion or sexual orientation. The bill has cleared a House committee, and a companion measure is under consideration in the state Senate.
