Firefighters keep battling a wildfire raging "out of control" on Spain's holiday island of Tenerife that has burnt more than 1800 hectares. The fire, which broke out on Tuesday night, is raging through a forested area with steep ravines, forcing road closures and the evacuation of several villages. IMAGES
Portugal battled major forest fires over the weekend as temperatures rose sharply. A blaze broke out in the Mafra area, around 40 kilometres (25 miles) north of Lisbon, where some 400 firefighters were drafted in to fight the blaze. IMAGES
Images filmed by the Gironde fire department show fires raging in the Landiras area, where nearly 500 people have been evacuated. 4.200 hectares have burned in three days in the area. IMAGES

Portuguese firefighters are struggling to control a blistering blaze that broke out in southern Portugal, forcing the evacuation of around 80 people.
