Bond Film Gets Release Date With No Bond

James Bond is set to make his return to theaters, but fans will have to wait more than a year for the big release. MGM and EON Productions announced on Monday that the 25th instalment of the film franchise will hit U.S. theaters on Nov. 8, 2019. The movie will be penned by Robert Wade and Neal Purvis, who also worked on Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace and Skyfall. A director and cast have yet to be announced, which leaves fans with the all-important question: who might fill the iconic spy’s shoes if Daniel Craig doesn’t return? While Idris Elba was rumored to be in talks for the role, he squashed speculation last year. Another Brit hunk, Tom Hiddleston, discussed the role with ET in 2015. “I think any British actor that gets a phone call that says, 'Would you like to play James Bond?' There's no more enticing question than that.” A few months later, Hiddleston added that he had not been asked or approached about the role. Chris Hemsworth, meanwhile, threw Charlize Theron’s name into the ring, saying she should be cast as the new Bond during an interview with W magazine. In the Aussie hunk’s opinion, Theron would be perfect for the role “because she scares the hell out of me.” When ET recently caught up with Theron in Berlin, Germany, she said Hemsworth’s comment was “flattering,” but she’s currently focusing on her latest film, Atomic Blonde.
