Nearly 1.5 Million People Don't Have Drinking Water In Puerto Rico

Description

In Puerto Rico there are new reports that nearly 1.5 million people do not have drinking water. It is being described as apocalyptic by some accounts as the infrastructure continues to leave the island crippled amid the devastation brought on by Hurricane Maria. According to a report issued by the Department of Defense the U.S. territory is said to have severe destruction to the local power grid, having sustained damages to "80% of the transmission system and 100% of the distribution system." The Associated Press reports that grocery stores are gradually reopening, however food and water remain a scarce commodity in some locations.
