Spain's parliament votes through a law legalising euthanasia becoming one of the few nations to allow terminally-ill or gravely-injured patients to end their own suffering. The vote, which passed by 202 in favour and 141 against and two abstentions in the 350-seat chamber, makes Spain the fourth European nation to decriminalise assisted suicide, alongside the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. The House of Representatives impeached President Donald Trump on Wednesday. Having been previously impeached for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress related to the Ukraine scandal, he's the first president to be impeached twice. Trump was impeached for 'incitement of insurrection' over his role in triggering the violent siege of the US Capitol on January 6. Five people died in the riot. According to Business Insider, ten Republican lawmakers broke ranks to vote with their Democratic colleagues to impeach the president. The final vote was 232 in favor of impeachment and 197 against.
GOP Rep. Liz Cheney announced on Tuesday that she will vote to impeach President Donald Trump. Cheney agrees with others in government positions that the President incited a deadly insurrection last week. Cheney called Trump's incitement of the mob the greatest "betrayal" of the constitution by any American president. "The President of the United States summoned this mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flame of this attack," she said in a statement. Cheney went on to say; "Everything that followed was his doing." 4 people have died as a result of the mayhem at the Capitol building on January 6, 2021.
The Republican committee of Arizona's Maricopa County is considering censuring the widow of the late GOP Sen. John McCain. Cindy McCain was a prominent Republican supporter of President-elect Joe Biden's 2020 campaign against President Donald Trump. Business Insider reports the committee floated a proposal on Saturday that would have censured her, but the measure did not move forward. The state party confirmed via Twitter that they would vote on a resolution to censure McCain on Jan. 23rd. The Maricopa GOP has already censured former Republican Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona, who endorsed President-elect Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
Democrat Rep. Brendan Boyle of Philadelphia let loose on Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas following the deadly riots on Capitol Hill. Business Insider reports Boyle told Cruz to stop playing politics after the deadly riots on Capitol Hill. Boyle issued a profanity-filled tweet at Cruz after Cruz accused Democrats of attempting to make political hay out of the melee. How many more 20-yr old staffers do you want to be terrorized and hiding in our offices? Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-PA) Cruz and others have been criticized for objecting to a congressional procedure to count the 2020 presidential race's Electoral College votes.
