Katie Price has been banned from driving for two years after she refused to tell police who was behind the wheel of her Range Rover when it crashed last year.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Golf R, Volkswagen is launching the Golf R “20 Years” as an exclusive special-edition model. The production period limited to approximately one year makes the special-edition model a collector’s item as soon as it rolls off the production line. The new Golf R “20 Years” is now available to order with prices starting from 59,995 euros in Germany.
A car arrived on the market in 1972 that signalled a turning point in the world of mobility. It was the SEAT 127. With more than 1.3 million units sold, it became the brand’s all-time best-seller until the arrival of the SEAT Ibiza, which, after five generations, still holds the title with more than 6 million units sold. Today, a half century after the launch of the 127, these two vehicles, benchmarks in their respective eras in terms of technology, design and safety, hit the road together for the first time.
A portmanteau of “boxer” and “roadster”, the Boxster name covers both the vehicle category and the boxer engine – the outstanding technical feature that had characterised the 356 since 1948 and the Porsche 911 since 1963.Grant Larson, today Director Special Projects, was responsible for designing the concept car. The designer remembers: “In October 1991 – I was responsible at the time for advance development in the Design department – I visited the Tokyo Motor Show. Audi presented the Avus Quattro concept car there. At the end of 1991, series development of the Boxster and the 996 was already taking place in other areas, and we decided to build a show car. I had full freedom as regards design. All drafts were produced as 2D drawings. So, not on a screen like today.
