Why Changing Exercise Routine Trumps Workout Time

Description

150 minutes of moderate exercise every week seems to be the going rate for maintaining physical fitness. But according to UPI, a new study from Skidmore College suggests that a mix of different types of exercise brings better results than simply adding more quantity. That's important if you spend hours at the gym, but focus only on strength training--or just on pounding the treadmill. Researchers found that people get the greatest benefits from mixing up resistance exercises, cardio workouts, interval training and stretching--along with eating moderate amounts of protein throughout the day.
