  • Pirelli presents the Cyber Tire system of smart tires

Pirelli presents for the first time tires capable of dialogue with the car. This is the Pirelli Cyber Tire system, which works thanks to a sensor located inside each tire that collects essential data for safe driving and transmits it directly to the vehicle's control unit software. The first model to incorporate this world novelty will be the McLaren Artura, a hybrid supercar equipped with a significant technological load for a more complete and safe driving. Cyber Tire technology provides a large amount of data for both the car and the person sitting behind the wheel: the 'tire passport (type of tire, summer or winter, ideal pressure, speed codes and load index) and all kind of information related to its running.

  • Goodyear Unveils Oxygene, a Concept Tire Designed to Support Cleaner

"Inspired by the principles of the circular economy, with emphasis on reducing material waste, emissions, and energy loss, Goodyear’s Oxygene concept is designed to integrate seamlessly into future cityscapes, featuring several performance solutions: Cleaning the Air We Breathe: Oxygene absorbs moisture from the road through its unique tread and inhales CO2 from the air to feed the moss in its sidewall and release oxygen via photosynthesis. In a city similar in size to greater Paris with about 2.5 million vehicles, this would mean generating nearly 3,000 tons of oxygen and absorbing more than 4,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year. Recycling Worn Tires: Oxygene features a non-pneumatic construction that is 3D-printed with rubber powder from recycled tires. The lightweight, shock-absorbing structure provides a long-lasting, puncture-free solution intended to extend the life of the tire and minimize service issues, delivering worry-free mobility. Additional safety is ensured by the tire’s open structure, which improves wet grip by helping absorb water from the tread. Generating its Own Electricity: Oxygene harvests the energy generated during photosynthesis to power its embedded electronics, including onboard sensors, an artificial intelligence processing unit, and a customizable light strip in the tire’s sidewall that switches colors, warning both road users and pedestrians of upcoming maneuvers, such as lane changes or braking. Communicating at the Speed of Light: Oxygene uses a visible light communications system, or LiFi, for high-capacity mobile connectivity at the speed of light. LiFi enables the tire to connect to the Internet of Things, allowing vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) data exchange, which is critical to smart mobility management systems."

  • Nissan IMQ Concept Exterior Design

The Nissan IMQ's dimensions place it at the center of the European C-crossover segment. It demonstrates a clean and effortless design, with the exterior and interior merging as one. This is most striking in the lines of the greenhouse, designed to give the impression of a single continuous surface. The IMQ marks a bold new direction in Nissan's design language. It builds on the Nissan badge, integrated into the V-motion grille, which has been given a deliberately more subtle execution. The grille blends vertically into the hood and horizontally with the front bumper to create strong corners at the outer edges. The hood features striking chrome-edged cuts as the fender rises from the wheel arches and tucks under the central section. At the rear, a vertical character line drops from the light cluster to separate air as it passes down the side, aiding aerodynamic performance. At its upper end, it's integrated into a new slim line interpretation of Nissan's "boomerang" lamp cluster. The single-piece tailgate tucks under the rear fenders, echoing the design of the hood.Closer inspection reveals extensive use of three-dimensional ridges on the darkened lower sections of the exterior. These detailed layers - known as lamellas - are evocative of Japanese traditional design and extend all around the car.The exterior is completed by 22-inch alloy wheels with bespoke Bridgestone Connect tires. These "smart" tires communicate information to the driver via the graphical user interface. Data transmitted includes tire load, pressure, temperature, grip level, wear and tire health. This helps the IMQ automatically calibrate its in-car control systems to work optimally. The Japanese design themes, blended with contemporary technology, continue inside. The IMQ's doors are hinged at their outer edges and open to reveal a futuristic, spacious interior, featuring four individual seats that rise seamlessly from the lamella-covered floor, which provides a visual link to the exterior.Nissan's familiar "gliding wing" instrument panel dominates the front of the cabin, with a center console emerging from beneath and stretching back between the front seats into the rear. Each sculpted seat is finished in a two-tone 3D technical fabric, laser-cut in a geometric design inspired by Japanese kumiko woodwork. The pattern is replicated on the instrument panel, door trim and parcel shelf, as well as the rich metallic finish of the seat back. Lamellas have also been integrated into the door trim and seat back uppers as headrest supports.

  • smart #3 Premium Exterior Design

During the first European large-scale test drive with the media, participants explored the rich and varied landscape of the Balearic island: a total of 120 journalists and content creators from 17 nations tested the sporty smart #3 on Mallorca’s roads. On the narrow serpentine roads, through wooded areas, colorful orchards and along the coast, the participants were able to try out the #3’s dynamic driving style in all its facets. The #3 stirs up the premium EV segment as a sporty SUV coupé. With its athletic curves and powerful “shark nose” it stands out as a timelessly elegant everyday companion. The look is rounded off by the wide a-shaped grill and slim LED headlights. The large 19-inch wheels complement the sporty look, and in BRABUS trim, the #3 even sports 20-inch rims. The panoramic halo roof connects the surroundings with the cabin of the car to create a welcoming atmosphere—a perfect opportunity to enjoy the picturesque landscape of Mallorca even more. The sporty exterior is reflected in the #3’s performance: peak power ranges from 200 kW on four lines to 315 kW in the BRABUS, setting a benchmark in the market segment. Acceleration ranges from 5.8 seconds to 3.7 seconds. In under 30 minutes the #3 is charged from 10 to 80 percent and ready to go. Thanks to its modern software environment, the smart #3 is an intelligent companion in everyday life and supports the driver with an intuitive ecosystem for driving. This includes various systems as part of the smart pilot assist, such as a highway assistant (HWA) and automatic parking assist (APA). The smart #3 also features Android Auto and Apple CarPlay2, which allows drivers to bring smartphone features and apps to the infotainment display. To ensure that the system is always up to date, smart implements constructive feedback and is able to develop features quickly and publish over-the-air (OTA) updates at short intervals that can be implemented directly by the user without a visit to the service center. In 2023, four OTA updates have already been successfully rolled out for smart #1 customers.
