The Great White Way may be dark for the foreseeable future, but the show will go on for the Tony Awards. CNN reports that nominations for Broadway's top prize were announced Thursday. "Jagged Little Pill," the musical inspired by Alanis Morissette's 1995 album of the same name, led with 15 nods. Due to the shortened season, Aaron Tveit was the only actor nominated for "lead role in a musical" for his part in Moulin Rouge. Jake Gyllenhaal received a nomination for "Lead role in a play" his role in "Sea Wall/A Life". Organizers have yet to announce a format or date for the ceremony, which was previously postponed from June.
Taylor Swift became the first person to be awarded Billboard's Woman of the Decade on Friday night (13.12.19), and in her acceptance speech she called for an end to the "toxic male privilege" in the music industry, and took aim at Scooter Braun.
Billie Eilish accepted Billboard's Woman of the Year Award at the Billboard Women In Music Awards at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on Thursday night (12.12.19), and admitted it felt "really weird" to receive the prize at the age of 17.
Mariah Carey will be presented with the Icon Award at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards on May 1.
Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift each scooped two prizes at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on Wednesday (14.03.19).
American star Selena Gomez has been named Billboard's 2017 Woman of the Year.
