Netflix Describes "Defenders" As ‘A One-Off Show’

This summer, Marvel’s The Defenders will be taking the stage. The series is the culmination of Netflix’s longterm investment in Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and most recently, Iron Fist. It’s the biggest live-action superhero team-up in small screen history. Taking place over just eight episodes, The Defenders provides less room for individual character study. The series focuses on the strength of the crime-fighting collective. Actress Deborah Ann Woll described the series as "a bit like a one-off." Woll says the characters get together to solve a problem and then return to their respective shows.

He says the decision came at his request, according to reports at CNN. Chappelle says the contract he signed allows for his show to stream without additional payment to him. As the creator, star, and executive producer, he takes issue with that. Chappelle has been part of the Netflix fold since 2016 and he is thankful they have respected his wishes.
