Hergé created a new drawing and gave this cover to the editor's son, Jean-Paul Casterman, who kept it throughout his life". "This is the first time that Hergé makes real research. Until then, he has only used some books for the Congo series or "Tintin in the Land of the Soviets". In this case, someone describes China to him and it is a well documented comic book. For the first time, Hergé is aware that he can’t tell whatever to his readers."
