MSNBC President Phil Griffin Renews Contract After Ratings Rise

MSNBC president Phil Griffin has renewed his contract amid surging ratings. Griffin, who has been with the cable news network since its inception in 1996, has signed a multi-year deal. He landed the role of president in July 2008. This comes at a time when the NBCUniversal-backed outlet’s ratings are on the rise. For the week ending on May 19, MSNBC beat Fox News and CNN in weekday primetime among both total viewers and the key news demo for the first time ever.

    A large group of supporters of President Donald Trump slowed and stopped traffic on a portion of the Garden State Parkway in New Jersey on Sunday. Multiple videos posted to social media showed vehicles flying Trump flags stopped on the highway as their occupant blew their car horns and cheered loudly. Local media reports the incident took place in the express lanes and along the Parkway's grassy shoulder areas, in the Holmdel area of the state. On Friday, a caravan of Trump supporters closely followed a Biden-Harris campaign bus, leading to a collision and the cancelation of several Democratic Party events. MSNBC's Stephanie Ruhle said the Chessequake area express lanes were 'basically shut down.' She tweeted, 'Trump supporters out of their cars with flags.'
