A man who tried to attack a police officer with a hammer at the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris has been shot and injured by police. Earlier in the day, Paris police tweeted that they were responding to an incident at the cathedral's square and warned the public to stay away. Since November 2015 France has been in a state of emergency following the Paris attacks that left 130 people dead.
