Lotus Wants You To Test Drive The Evora 400, But Only If You're As Agile As It Is

Description

It's not often that a company trying to sell a new car—particularly a fairly expensive, limited-production sports car—implies that potential buyers may not be up to driving it. Yet Lotus may just bruise a few fan egos with an unorthodox attempt to promote the new Evora 400. The Lotus Evora 400 Agility Test is based on reaction-time tests used in fighter-pilot training programs, Lotus says. The goal is to move a yellow square around the board while avoiding several moving squares for as long as possible. Unveiled at the recent 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the Evora 400 is a refreshed version of Lotus' more upscale mid-engined sports car. A supercharged 3.5-liter V-6 produces 400 horsepower and 302 pound-feet of torque, enough for a 0-60 mph acceleration in 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 186 mph.

  • The new Avenger e-Hybrid with innovative 48Volt Hybrid engine on test drive

Boasting exceptional driving capabilities while also ensuring reduced CO2 emissions, the new Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid, driven by its innovative 48 Volt hybrid engine, further advances the Jeep brand's trailblazing journey into electrification. The engine powering the new Avenger e-Hybrid represents the highest level of technological achievement, delivering both comfort and performance. With this state-of-the-art technology, the new Avenger e-Hybrid delivers an exceptionally smooth driving experience, enabling fortunate journalists to embrace electric mobility at lower speeds. This is made possible through the integration of the automatic 6-speed e-DCS6 dual-clutch transmission with its integrated electric engine. The route retraces the double soul of the Avenger: at ease both on road and offroad. On the one hand, the on-road route allows the driver to try the hybrid features (energy recovery & electric drive at low speed) and the tech features such as L2 assisted driving. The new Avenger e-Hybrid has been designed to be the first entry point into electrification. It employs a powertrain based on a lightweight 48V Hybrid system capable of delivering a nearly complete hybrid experience. A 100hp internal combustion engine coupled with a 21kw electric motor is then integrated into a double-clutch 6-speed automatic transmission and a 48V Belt Starter for a smooth transition to the electric drive that also produces further CO2 savings. The 0.9 kWh lithium-ion battery is located under the driver's seat, with no impact on the interior space, which remains the same as that of the Avenger petrol. The entire 48V hybrid system weighs only 60 kg more than a conventional automatic transmission. This keeps the total weight of the new Avenger e-Hybrid to just 1280 kg.

  • The new Porsche Macan prototype Test Drive Video

Ten years after its launch, the Macan is on the cusp of a second model generation, now in all-electric form. As the first Porsche model built on the new Premium Platform Electric (PPE), the SUV is a completely new development. The test process to ensure the perfect coordination of all components and systems is accordingly meticulous. Porsche places great importance on real-world testing with camouflaged prototypes. At the same time, simulations in both the virtual world and wind tunnel are increasingly precise and play an ever-greater role. This is particularly true when it comes to making a new Porsche not only sportier, but also more efficient.

  • smart #3 SUV coupe Test Drive in Mallorca

During the first European large-scale test drive with the media, participants explored the rich and varied landscape of the Balearic island: a total of 120 journalists and content creators from 17 nations tested the sporty smart #3 on Mallorca’s roads. On the narrow serpentine roads, through wooded areas, colorful orchards and along the coast, the participants were able to try out the #3’s dynamic driving style in all its facets. The #3 stirs up the premium EV segment as a sporty SUV coupé. With its athletic curves and powerful “shark nose” it stands out as a timelessly elegant everyday companion. The look is rounded off by the wide a-shaped grill and slim LED headlights. The large 19-inch wheels complement the sporty look, and in BRABUS trim, the #3 even sports 20-inch rims. The panoramic halo roof connects the surroundings with the cabin of the car to create a welcoming atmosphere—a perfect opportunity to enjoy the picturesque landscape of Mallorca even more. The sporty exterior is reflected in the #3’s performance: peak power ranges from 200 kW on four lines to 315 kW in the BRABUS, setting a benchmark in the market segment. Acceleration ranges from 5.8 seconds to 3.7 seconds. In under 30 minutes the #3 is charged from 10 to 80 percent and ready to go. Thanks to its modern software environment, the smart #3 is an intelligent companion in everyday life and supports the driver with an intuitive ecosystem for driving. This includes various systems as part of the smart pilot assist, such as a highway assistant (HWA) and automatic parking assist (APA). The smart #3 also features Android Auto and Apple CarPlay2, which allows drivers to bring smartphone features and apps to the infotainment display. To ensure that the system is always up to date, smart implements constructive feedback and is able to develop features quickly and publish over-the-air (OTA) updates at short intervals that can be implemented directly by the user without a visit to the service center. In 2023, four OTA updates have already been successfully rolled out for smart #1 customers.

  • Testing the new BMW i5. Chapter 3 - Test drive near Dingolfing, Germany

This was followed by more testing over the course of 2022, both at other BMW Group test facilities and in everyday driving in and around Munich as well as in the vicinity of BMW Group Plant Dingolfing. The task here was to continue refining the car’s chassis technology and acoustic properties under a wide variety of conditions, as well as honing the drive unit’s power delivery, in order to produce a well-resolved driving experience at all times. Here again, part of the development work was deliberately carried out during the colder months on icy and snowy roads in the Alpine foothills. This last winter, BMW i5 prototypes – now sporting less camouflage and near-production headlights – were regularly sent out for testing to verify the functionality and reliability of their powertrain and chassis control systems in extremely demanding road and weather conditions. The BMW engineers involved in the vehicle project were able to directly inspect the current state of development through testing in the BMW brand’s native Bavaria before it was time to return to endurance testing near the Arctic Circle in February 2023.

  • Test drive new Mercedes-Benz eSprinter

Mercedes-Benz Vans is systematically electrifying all model series. The new eSprinter impresses with efficiency, range and load capacity, and is a true cosmopolitan: Produced in Europe and North America, it will underline the claim to "Lead in Electric Drive" in around 60 markets in the future. The new eSprinter comes with a multitude of technical innovations and is based on a new concept consisting of three modules. These allow the greatest possible freedom in the development and design of various conversions and superstructures previously only known from the conventionally powered Sprinter. The front module, a uniformly designed front section, includes all high-voltage components and can be combined unchanged with all vehicle variants, regardless of wheelbase and battery size. The module for the integrated high-voltage battery is located in the underbody to save space. The battery location between the axles, together with the robust battery housing, results in a low centre of gravity, which has a positive influence on handling and increases driving safety. The third pillar of the modular design is the rear module with the electrically driven rear axle. Following the principle of the common parts strategy, this is used in all variants of the new eSprinter. The compact and powerful electric motor is also integrated into the rear module.
