With the electric drive control DIRECT4, Lexus presents a new technology for the next generation of electric and hybrid vehicles. The system ensures precise, needs-based distribution of torque and braking force on all four wheels and thus forms the basis for outstanding performance, driving safety and handling properties.Last year Lexus unveiled the futuristic LF-30 concept vehicle at the Tokyo Motor Show - as part and ambassador of the new global electrification strategy Lexus Electrified. The DIRECT4 drive control system now presented is a core technology of this strategy. The system regulates the torque distribution of the front and rear electric motors as well as the distribution of the braking force on all four wheels. In this way, the drive of the front and rear wheels is adapted to the respective driving conditions and the intentions of the driver.
A year has passed since the presentation of the prototype E-Ducato, the full electric BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) developed by Fiat Professional as part of its journey toward zero-emissions vehicles. Over the year, despite all the difficulties related to the public health emergency of the last few months, the development of the new Fiat Professional model has continued with the assistance of simulation tools. The specifications of the updated 2016 Cadillac ELR range-extended electric car were released this morning, and one big question has been answered. The luxury coupe will not use the revised Voltec powertrain that propels the new second-generation 2016 Chevrolet Volt on sale later this year. But it boasts better performance, slightly higher electric range, more standard equipment, and a price cut of $10,000. Instead, the 2016 ELR will continue with its existing 17.1-kilowatt-hour battery pack and 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine. Nonetheless, it gets a notable boost in powertrain output, which has risen to 233 horsepower and 373 pound-feet of torque from the 207 hp and 295 lb-ft of the 2014 ELR.
