Italy was hit by a powerful earthquake early Wednesday morning. The town closest to the epicenter is almost completely destroyed.
A powerful earthquake strikes Italy in the same central regions that have been rocked by repeated tremors over the past two months, with more buildings brought down but no deaths immediately reported. Ashraf Fahim reports.
Drone footage filmed on Thursday morning shows the ruins of the earthquake-stricken city of Pescara del Tronto in the Le Marche region of central Italy. The footage shows the complete devastation of the small town, with empty shells of houses poking out from rubble littering the streets as far as the eye can see. The earthquake has decimated medieval towns, destroying centuries old buildings and churches.
Mobile phone footage filmed by Emiliano Grillotti in the Italian town of Amatrice in the early hours of Wednesday morning shows the immediate aftermath of a 6.2 magnitude earthquake which has left at least 38 people dead and dozens of others buried under the rubble of collapsed houses and buildings across central Italy.

Images show emergency responders and vehicles in Antakya immediately after a new, 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey on Monday evening.
