Federal Investigators Find Safety Violations with New Jersey Transit

Description

Federal investigators found numerous safety violations in New Jersey Transit's commuter train operations. The investigators discovered that the trains operated without on-board emergency tools and working fire extinguishers, trains stopped too close to each other, and workers used cellphones when they should not have. The findings were disclosed during a review hearing by the Federal Railroad Administration scheduled after a recent fatal crash in Hoboken. NJ Transit Executive Director Steve Santoro added that investigators also found that some train engineers failed to blow their horns at crossings, which is required by law.

Christopher Wray Director, Federal Bureau of Investigation The insurrection was fueled by President Donald Trump's lies about his definitive election loss. It also exposed the reach of baseless conspiracy theories that have radicalized Americans to the point that they laid siege to their own Capitol.
