British Court Rules Brexit Must Pass Parliament

Description

A recent court ruling has halted Prime Minister Theresa May's initiative to leave the European Union in haste. Instead of pushing forward with the Brexit, a lawsuit is thwarting the government's plans to being the formal process to exit the EU without a parliamentary vote. The suit contends that Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, that forms the constitutional basis for the EU, requires a vote from a country's parliament. The suit's lead claimant, a London-based businesswoman and philanthropist, is delighted with the recent court ruling. Gina Miller added that the case is about process, not politics, and that the country is owed the highest standards of transparency and democratic accountability by the government.
