Coolio Faces Felony Charges For Allegedly Trying To Smuggle A Gun Onto A Plane


According to the Associated Press, authorities say Coolio has been charged with a felony after a gun was found in a backpack at Los Angeles International Airport. The rapper's real name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr. He was charged Thursday with one felony count of possession of a firearm by a felon. Prosecutors say a handgun was found in Coolio's carry-on bag during security screening at LAX in September. If convicted, Coolio faces a maximum sentence of three years in state prison.

According to Reuters, Gooding faces one misdemeanor account of forcible touching in an incident on Sunday when an unidentified woman said Gooding touched her breasts. Gooding denies the accusation. After being charged at a New York police facility, he emerged in handcuffs and did not speak to reporters. Cuba Gooding Jr. is the latest Hollywood figure to be swept up in a sexual misconduct scandal that has roiled the entertainment industry in the last two years.

  • FBI Agent Whose Gun Discharged At Bar Faces Charges

    According to Reuter's, an off-duty FBI agent who accidentally shot a man has been charged. 29 year old Chase Bishop was dancing at a Denver bar when his gun discharged, injuring a patron. 24 year old Tom Reddington, suffered a “serious, but not life-threatening” gunshot wound to his lower leg. Video of the incident showed Bishop break dancing, then doing a backflip. His handgun fell from his holster onto the dance floor and discharged as Bishop picked it up. Bishop, who turned himself into the police, is being charged with second-degree assault. He is due in court and faces a maximum 12 years in prison if convicted on the felony offense. He could face additional charges depending on test results of his blood-alcohol level. The club, meanwhile, has offered Reddington, the shooting victim, “complimentary drinks for life.”

    Sergeant Thomas Allers was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly robbing victims of more than $90,000, prosecutors said. He became the eighth member of the unit to face federal racketeering charges. The former head of a scandal-ridden Baltimore police gun crimes unit was indicted by a grand jury last week on charges of stealing money, swearing false affidavits and submitting fake incident reports. Many of the alleged robberies took place while Baltimore police were facing a U.S. Justice Department civil rights investigation for the 2015 police-involved death of a black man.

    LAS VEGAS (AP) — A police officer will face two felony charges for killing an unarmed man with a martial arts-style neck hold after a chase through a Las Vegas Strip casino, the Clark County sheriff announced Monday. The officer, Kenneth Lopera, was suspended without pay and was due to be arrested on charges of involuntary manslaughter and oppression under color of authority, Sheriff Joe Lombardo said minutes after the county coroner ruled that Tashii S. Brown, 40, was choked to death May 14. Brown also was zapped with a stun gun and punched by the officer after a chase through restricted areas of The Venetian resort, police have said.
