Dozens of people disembark from a UK Border Force patrol vessel in the port of Dover on November 30 2022. The British government says 426 migrants were detected crossing the English Channel in small boats that day. More than 40,000 migrants have crossed the Channel to Britain so far this year according to the UK government, whilst Britain and France have just signed a new deal in November - increasing what the French border controls are paid in order to prevent these crossings. This is the Good Hotel, a massive floating hotel that has finally docked into London' Royal Docks on Thursday afternoon. The Good Hotel is no ordinary floating hotel - it has just completed a major voyage across the English Channel after it started off on its journey from Amsterdam on Monday. Unfortunately, the hotel was a bit delayed in arriving to its final destination due to adverse weather and tidal conditions, but all guests are now safe and sound in the United Kingdom. This former floating prison was converted to a hotel by Dutch entrepreneurs, but it's much more than a floating accomodation. People staying at the hotel can rest in peace in a fully functioning hotel room while making a journey from one port to the next. The 144-room, 17.6 million pound hotel has now completed its first long journey across the channel to the capital of Great Britain, and perhaps many more journeys lie ahead. Would you ever take a voyage on the Good Hotel?
Migrants attempting the treacherous Channel crossing arrive at the southeastern English coast in a small boat, before being taken into the custody of the British border force in Dover. More than 100,000 migrants have crossed the Channel on small boats from France to southeast England since Britain began publicly recording the arrivals in 2018, official figures revealed on August 11.
