Description
Star Wars fans are closer to seeing another installment in the cinematic universe, but this time it will be unlike anything they’ve seen before. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will not follow the episodic saga of the Skywalker family, but it will include the presence of none other than Darth Vader. This time, Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) is set to be the lead throughout the film as she is tasked by the Rebels to steal the plans to the Empire’s latest and most famous weapon: the Death Star.
While the success of this mission is already known thanks to A New Hope, many fans are expecting this victory to come at a heavy cost to Jyn and other new faces that join her squad. Jyn has been the face of the movie so far and that does not change with the newest poster, but fans can also now get ready for the final trailer coming tomorrow.
The official Star Wars Twitter account has revealed the newest poster for Rogue One that brings all the rebels together in typical fashion, with the familiar beach of storm troopers below, and a looming Darth Vader infused with the Death Star. The poster is merely the appetizer for the movie’s full and final trailer that will arrive tomorrow. In the meantime, check out the poster:
The poster itself is an eye-catching addition to the marketing campaign for the movie, but the big focus for Star Wars fans will likely turn to tomorrow’s trailer. It is not a surprise that another trailer is set for release, but this is a bit earlier than previously reported. The latest report had the trailer attached to the premiere of Doctor Strange, so this changes things up a bit.
When it comes to what is shown in the trailer tomorrow, it’s a good bet fans will be waiting to see more of Vader in his prime. Marketing has surprisingly only shown Vader in the background of still images and a small glimpse at the back of his helmet with the last trailer, so a bigger presence from one of the most recognizable Star Wars characters would not be a surprise. If he does get more screen time, hopefully nothing too revealing will come out. Stay tuned to Screen Rant tomorrow for the final Rogue One trailer to be released.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens in U.S. theaters on December 16, 2016, followed by Star Wars: Episode VIII on December 15, 2017, the Han Solo Star Wars Anthology film on May 25, 2018, Star Wars: Episode IX in 2019, and the third Star Wars Anthology film in 2020.
