Nakhon Ratchasrima, Feb 9 (EFE).- A soldier who shot and left tens of people dead and dozens injured before holing himself up overnight at a shopping center was killed by police Sunday in a province in central Thailand, authorities said.Sgt. Jakrapanth Thomma, who shot dead 20 people and injured 42 others Saturday in Nakhon Ratchasima province at Terminal 21 shopping center, was killed after a night-long police standoff, Thai Police Commissioner-General Chakthip Chaijinda said.The shooting began Saturday afternoon at an army base in the province, where Jakrapanth shot his commanding officer Col. Anantharot Krasae and other army personnel before fleeing in what local media outlets said was a stolen Humvee. The shooter then opened fire at a temple in town before arriving at the shopping center, where he continued his rampage. The driver was also injured in the crash and taken to hospital. When he was tested for illegal substances, his results indicated that he had taken cocaine prior to driving.
