Mother Fights Off Mountain Lion Attack

Authorities say on Friday night a mother in Colorado fought off a mountain lion that attacked her five-year-old son. The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office told ABC7 the boy had been playing outside with his older brother around 8pm when the mountain lion attacked. The incident happened near their home about 10 miles north west of Aspen. According to a police statement, the mother heard screams from outside and “physically removed her son from the mountain lion.". The boy’s face, head and neck were injured. He was taken to an Aspen area hospital, conscious and alert. The sheriff’s department said a forest service officer killed the lion. Mountain lions are not often seen in Colorado, and attacks are rare.

Since we didn't have a fire mask, we would use a shirt to cover our faces, work boots... and we would feel important.""The brigade has brought us a lot of pride but also a great concern. Now we only work from our own initiative or under request to protect ourselves from all what is happening. We don't know who is responsible for the fires, we don't know the real danger we could put ourselves into. It will be better like this because what we did before we did it from our hearts and for love, but it did finish as it did."
