Trump Sought Dramatic Increase In U.S. Nuclear Arsenal

On Wednesday, NBC News reported that in a meeting with his national security advisers, U.S. President Donald Trump wanted to dramatically increase the country’s nuclear arsenal. Trump’s reported comments come as tensions remained high with North Korea and as Trump is expected to make an announcement on whether to decertify the international deal surrounding Iran’s nuclear program. In an interview with Reuters in February, Trump said that he wanted to ensure that the U.S. nuclear arsenal was at the “top of the pack.”
