Investigators attempt to shed light on how a California couple arrested on suspicion of torture were able to keep their 13 malnourished children -- ages 2 to 29 - confined in their suburban home in grim conditions with no one noticing.

    Riverside County sheriff's department rescued 13 siblings found abused and malnourished locked up in their house in Perris, California, Tuesday, after receiving a distress call from one of the siblings. Three of the children were physically chained to house furniture when the police found them as they appeared to be malnourished after a 17-year-old girl managed to escape and notify the authorities. 57-year-old David Allen Turpin and 49-year-old Louise Anna Turpin haven't being able to explain their motives. They have been arrested and are being held with a $9-million bail.
