    On Saturday, U.S., British and French forces struck Syria with more than 100 missiles in the first coordinated strikes against Syria, targetting what they called chemical weapons sites in retaliation for a poison gas attack. U.S. President Donald Trump announced the military action from the White House, saying the three allies had “marshaled their righteous power against barbarism and brutality”. British Prime Minister Theresa May described the strike as “limited and targeted”.

    On Saturday, U.S. National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster said that, despite denials, public reports showed that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was using chemical weapons. McMaster also said that it was time for the international community to hold the Syrian government to account. In recent weeks, rescue workers, aid groups and the United States have accused Syria of repeatedly using chlorine gas as a weapon against civilians.

  • Kremlin Dismisses Trump Warning Not To Launch Offensive

    According to reuters, The Kremlin dismissed U.S. President Donald Trump’s warning to Syria not to launch an offensive in the rebel-held enclave of Idlib, saying on Tuesday the area was a “nest of terrorists”. Trump on Monday warned Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his allies Iran and Russia not to “recklessly attack” the area, saying hundreds of thousands of people could be killed. Russia resumed air strikes against insurgents in Idlib province on Tuesday. A source has told Reuters that Assad is preparing a phased offensive to regain the province.
