Trump And Japanese PM Shinzo Abe Speak To Reporters

Description

On Wednesday, at the end of a two-day summit in Florida, President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe talked to reporters. Trump opened his remarks reiterating his praise for the former first lady Barbara Bush. The former first lady died on Tuesday at age 92. Trump also applauded last week's US-led airstrikes on Syria. He and Abe covered a number of topics, including international trade and early diplomatic talks on the Korean Peninsula. A top-line issue for both leaders was Trump's move to penalize some of the US's trading partners with tariff hikes on imports of certain goods. Trump earlier on Wednesday remarked on what he called a "very big deficit" with Japan. The president also touted potential new business with the country. According to Reuters Trump said, "I know they're ordering large numbers of airplanes ... in the tens of billions of dollars."
