  • Is there no end to Rio's cycle of violence?

Since it won the right to host the 2016 Olympic Games, Rio de Janeiro has been working to secure its violent slums. But that's been overshadowed by frequent blunders by police. In the last five years, the Brazilian police have killed more civilians than their American counterparts have in three decades. And as our reporters found out, the officers pay a heavy price too, with more than 100 police officers killed every year in Rio alone.
