Hong Kong, Jun 23 (EFE/EPA).- Next Digital's pro-democracy Hong Kong tabloid newspaper "Apple Daily" and its online edition, known for its strong criticism of the Chinese government, looked to cease operations by Saturday following police raids and the arrest of executives.Authorities accuse them of publishing at least 30 articles in which they allegedly called for foreign sanctions against local authorities for their repression of the 2019 anti-government protests, according to local press.Apple Daily founder Jimmy Lai, one of the best-known figures in the Hong Kong pro-democracy opposition, is in jail and also faces various charges relating to national security law.
