Proud mama panda bear Shin Shin munched on bamboo as her new baby panda cub named Xiang Xiang was unveiled to the public at Tokyo's Ueno Zoo on Monday. Journalists and a group of school children were able to get a glimpse of the six-month-old baby cub playing and climbing a tree. This marks the first time in almost three decades that a panda cub at Ueno Zoo has lived to see six months.

A Hamadryas Baboon born at the Prospect Park Zoo in Chicago made his public debut. The Baboons are a part of a species survival plan in the zoo. The baby has yet to receive a name.
