Little marks the identity of an automaker more than its identifying logo.Since 1910, the Alfa Romeo emblem has included two of the symbols that identify Milan: The cross, the historical symbol of the capital of Lombardy, and the Biscione serpent, the coat of arms of the noble Visconti family and one of the city's most iconic emblems. For over 60 years (1910–1972), the name MILANO featured in the lower part of the logo. Through 1918, it was accompanied by the acronym “A.L.F.A.” (Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili), then from 1919 by “ALFA ROMEO.”Always a symbol of the avant-garde, Milan now acts as an international manifesto of modernity, innovation, and sustainability. Considered one of the icons of the arts and of Made in Italy around the world, Milan has always played a crucial cultural role in the fields of fashion, design, and music.Alfa Romeo has chosen Milan, its home, to embark on a new, exciting, and daring chapter in its history: reinterpreting sportiness in the 21st century.
April 15, 1923 is a special date in the history of Alfa Romeo. On this day, the Quadrifoglio symbol adorned the works racing cars of the traditional Italian brand for the first time. And the green, four-leaf clover on a white background brought good luck right away: Ugo Sivocci won the Targa Florio road race on the Mediterranean island of Sicily in an Alfa Romeo RLS ahead of teammate Antonio Ascari.Just in time for the 100th anniversary of this memorable event, Alfa Romeo presents the new Quadrifoglio versions of the Giulia and Stelvio models. The first are the exclusive anniversary models Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio 100° Anniversario and Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio 100° Anniversario. Both are limited to 100 copies each. Orders start in a few weeks.
Lean, mean and absolutely gorgeous, Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake unveiled its 2023 challenger, the C43, at a launch event held jointly in Zurich and at the team headquarters in Hinwil, Switzerland. The world of Formula One has an early contender for the title of most beautiful car on the grid already. The C43, in a striking livery of red and black, will guide Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu in the 2023 World Championship as the team seeks to continue on its path of constant improvement. In the reveal video, the C43 emerged from raw materials and atomized parts, the resulting assembly symbolizing how the team is a union of individuals, each playing an important part in ensuring Alfa Romeo F1 Team’s success. The livery was designed by Alfa Romeo’s Centro Stile.Designed by the technical team, led by Jan Monchaux, and powered by a new Ferrari power unit, the C43 is an evolution of last year’s successful challenger, the C42; however, due to significant changes to the regulations from FIA, the C43 incorporates several updates and complete new parts with its overall development path still promising a steep improvement curve. The car is now ready to hit the track in a shakedown session, scheduled this week in Barcelona, and for winter testing in Bahrain at the end of the month.
Standing out on the fronts of the New Giulia and Stelvio, the front grille, where the logo is positioned, and the lower grilles of the two main air ducts have been given a unique finishing which provides a contemporary reinterpretation of the famous and distinct “Trilobo” grille. In fact, the headlights are the main new feature on the front. Starting today the “3+3” lights make their debut on both models with new Full-LED Adaptive Matrix headlights. This creates both a strong family feeling with the Tonale and, at the same time, recalls one of the brand’s famous features which was introduced by the iconic Alfa Romeo SZ Zagato and the Alfa Romeo Proteo concept car. The three modules make up the New Giulia’s and Stelvio’s unique frontline and supply daylight, a dynamic turn signal ensuring the best lighting conditions thanks to the introduction of two sophisticated technologies: the “Adaptive Front Lighting System”, which constantly adjusts the dipped beam headlights based on the speed and driving conditions, and the “Glare-Free High Beam Segmented Technology”, which in poor lighting conditions automatically detects both directions of traffic to avoid blinding the other cars; and finally the“Welcome and Goodbye" device, a function which turns on every time the driver closes or opens the car. All of this means more efficiency—in terms of duration and energy savings—and greater safety due to less stress on the eyes and increased driving comfort. The layout of the group of rear LED tail lights, which provide the perfect combination of style and sophisticated technologies, have also been made over to accentuate both models’ sporty souls. Specifically, the New Giulia has new tail lights in glass with a transparent finish, while those on the New Stelvio come in smoked glass with a glossy black finish.
