German Federal Minister of the Interior Horst Seehofer visits the synagogue which was one of the targets of a deadly attack that left two dead. The victims, a man and a woman, were apparently chosen at random when the assailant failed to gain access to the temple he had besieged with gunfire and homemade explosives, as the frightened congregation barricaded itself inside. Blood stains and medical supplies were strewn around the train carriage where a teenage Afghan refugee, allegedly armed with an axe and knife, injured four passengers on a train close to Wurzburg in southern Germany on Monday after yelling 'Allahu Akbar' according to witnesses. Three people were severely injured in the attack and another one suffered light injuries, while 14 other people had to be treated for shock.
In the wake of Saturday's fatal knife attack in Paris, French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin has come out in favour of "psychiatric care orders that could be granted to police prefects" for "a those involved in radical Islam and who suffer from mental illness. A German tourist was fatally stabbed cloes to the Eiffel tower on Saturday and two other people wounded in the attack. The attacker was a Frenchman in his mid-20s born to a non-religious Iranian family but who had already done prison time for planning an attack and was known to the authorities as an Islamist radical with mental issues.
