What Are Some Things That Could Make Your Cold Worse?

Description

There's no single cure for the common cold -- the only thing you can really do is wait it out, but there are certain habits that could make you feel even worse. The top habits that could prolong your cold are not getting enough rest, drinking alcohol, smoking, and not staying hydrated. Also, certain popular treatments like Vitamin C won't really shorten your cold and according to the CDC, antibiotics can't cure the common cold either. The only thing that has been proven to help a cold is zinc.

  • Things That Make You Say 'Hmm' About US Presidential Elections

Presidential campaigns today seem to be massive, well-oiled machines. But that doesn't mean American election history is without its oddities. For example, the Farmers Almanac says President Zachary Taylor never, ever voted. He kept his political beliefs a secret all the way up until his 1848 election. According to The Famer's Almanac, George Washington’s entire campaign budget for his 1758 election to the House of Burgesses was spent on liquor. Borrowing an English tradition, Washington spent 50 British pounds on 160 gallons of alcohol that was given to 390 voters. Originally, only white male American property owners could vote in US elections. But the 1920 Nineteenth Amendment gave women the right to vote, too. According to the Farmer's Almanac, since 1964, more women voters have gone to the polls than male voters during presidential election years.

  • Stomach Churning Feats at Balochistan's 'Stunt School' Will Make You Squirm

Warning: viewer discretion is advised. Stunt master Ghulam Farooq was busy paving the way for the next generation of daredevil stunt artists with jaw-dropping feats that will make people with even the strongest of stomachs squirm in their seat. Farooq is teaching stunt students, including children younger than 10 years old, to perform insane tricks in the remote Pakistani village of Mastung. Students from Farooq's private academy withstood beds of nails, barbed wire, and insane feats of stretching. Farooq is perhaps training the next generation of stuntmen who will go to any lengths to make the jaws of their audience gape with disbelief. Stunts at his school border on the insane and test the limits of human bodies to the max. His school rewrites classic tricks like standing on the bed of nails and even takes traditional tricks like performance of the splits to gruesome and gut-wrenching new levels, making Jean Claude Van Damm look like an amateur. This stunt school is not for the weak of spirit and definitely not for the weak of stomach.
