Harley-Davidson Announces Plans for Electric Motorcycle

On Tuesday, the CEO of Harley-Davidson said the company will release an electric motorcycle within 18 months. In a statement, Matthew Levatich said, "The EV market is in its infancy today and we believe it will drive excitement into our sport globally in both traditional and nontraditional spaces." The announcement comes after Harley-Davidson reported poor Q4 2017 earnings. The motorcycle industry in the U.S. overall has been struggling to attract new riders due the rise in popularity of smaller, less-intimidating machines from Ducati, Honda, and even Harley.
