Trump Pledge To Slash Regulations In Question Following Deadly Amtrak Crash

Description

Critics have begun to question President Donald Trump's recent efforts to roll back or delay finalizing US railroad safety regulations, while investigators sift through the wreckage of an Amtrak train crash in Washington state earlier this week. On Monday, a passenger train derailed while speeding onto a bridge, killing three people and injuring one-hundred others, drawing renewed attention to US railway safety. President Trump has promised a sweeping effort to eliminate regulations throughout the government and cut at least two existing regulations for every new one. Earlier this month, the Transportation Department reversed a decision which required crude oil tank cars to be fitted with an advanced braking system intended to prevent fiery derailments.
