Decision Desk HQ and Insider have announced that President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris have won Georgia. It's the first Democratic presidential victory in the state since Bill Clinton's narrow win in 1992, and earns Biden the state's 16 electoral votes. It brings Biden's final Electoral College count to 306, well above the 270 vote threshold for victory. Trump will earn 232 Electoral College votes. According to Business Insider, nearly all statewide precincts have reported. Biden led Trump by a 0.3% margin, earning 49.5% of the votes compared to Trump's 49.2%. Due to the closeness of the race, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on Wednesday ordered a statewide audit of the presidential election results. Such an audit requires that each ballot be counted by hand. Final vote tallies from each precinct must be submitted by November 18th.
(CNN)Joe Biden will win Georgia, CNN projected Friday, striking at the heart of what has been Republican presidential stronghold for nearly three decades. The former vice president is the first Democratic nominee to triumph in Georgia since Bill Clinton did it in 1992. Biden's victory adds 16 electoral votes to his tally, bringing him to 306 -- matching President Donald Trump's 2016 total. With CNN's projection that Trump will win North Carolina, the final tally is 306-232. In Georgia, Trump had raced out to an early lead in the counting, but Biden surged ahead as the votes from Atlanta and its suburbs were tabulated.
On Monday, Republican Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas was spotted in New Hampshire. It was his second visit to campaign for down-ballot Republicans in a state worth two electoral votes. Democratic nominee Joe Biden is leading President Donald Trump by an average of 11 percentage points in the state. However, New Hampshire maintains an outsized influence as the first-in-the-nation primary state. According to Business Insider, Cotton has been open about his plans to run for President in 2024.
