Strikes Break Out Across France In Response To Macron's Reform Drive

Description

According to a report by CNN, French President Emmanuel Macron faces a major test of his sweeping reform agenda, as a series of strikes broke out across the transport and public sectors on Thursday. Train conductors, air-traffic controllers, as well as teachers, walked off the job after the government announced it planned labor overhauls. Civil servants are also expected to protest a string of reform, with hospital workers and teachers reportedly joining around 140 demonstrations across the country. Thursday sets off a three-month wave of industrial action by rail workers, who plan to strike on two out of every five days between April and June, as well as organize over 100 marches. Workers are furious over plans to take away jobs-for-life guarantees and generous retirement plans.
