Miami Bridge Was Extraordinary For Great Reasons--Until It Wasn't

Description

On paper, the crashed Miami bridge was an engineering feat, boasting several superlatives. It was the first bridge in the world to be constructed entirely of self-cleaning concrete. When exposed to sunlight, it captures air pollution and cleans itself. Designed to withstand a Cat 5 hurricane, it was installed in just a few hours.
