Taipei zoo's baby panda opens her eyes for the first time about a month and a half after she is born. The zoo is holding a naming contest for the cub and has picked out six of the most popular suggestions from more than 1,700. Her name will be voted on at a later date.
Proud mama panda bear Shin Shin munched on bamboo as her new baby panda cub named Xiang Xiang was unveiled to the public at Tokyo's Ueno Zoo on Monday. Journalists and a group of school children were able to get a glimpse of the six-month-old baby cub playing and climbing a tree. This marks the first time in almost three decades that a panda cub at Ueno Zoo has lived to see six months.
