At last year’s CES, all the major TV manufacturers made it clear that the future would be televised in 4K. Nvidia, Amazon, Roku, and TiVo all came to market with their own 4K streaming boxes. And Roku, still our favorite player in the streaming game, is now baking its 4K streaming services, excellent discovery engine, and easy interface into TCL’s newest 4K TVs. The new TCL 4K Roku TV will include a Feed alert system and voice-search capabilities. But it’s unknown whether the new TCL set’s hardware specs and features will fully match those of the high-powered Roku 4 box. If that wasn’t enough to impress you, they also made it 111-inches big. LG achieved the 111-inch size by combining three 65-inch OLED panels while keeping the display just a handful of millimeters thick. A smaller 55-inch double-sided TV was also present with its thickness listed as just 5.3mm.
The Apple TV leaks just won’t stop: The latest on the new device, which Apple is expected to unveil at a press event in San Francisco next week, is that it won’t support 4K video playback. Omitting 4K is a bit of a mixed bag for Apple: Consumers have just started to buy 4K TVs, and there is very little 4K content available on streaming services. The new Apple TV will also offer universal search, according to multiple reports, making it possible to search for a movie or TV show across several apps.
