Battle for National Front party leadership reaches climax

Description

The French National Front's founder and president, Jean-Marie Le Pen, is stepping down. The 82-year-old, who won through to the second round of the French presidential elections in 2002, wants to make way for new blood to better his party's chances in next year's election. Hot favourite to take over is his daughter, Marine, but she first has to see off vice president Bruno Gollnisch. The winner of the leadership contest will be announced at the party conference in Tours this weekend.
