  • How The QAnon 'Save Our Children' Conspiracy Is Harming Legitimate Child Welfare Orgs

For months, child welfare organizations have been dealing with the pandemic and its impact on at-risk children. But now, CNN reports workers have a new thorn in their sides: the QAnon conspiracy theory. It casts President Donald Trump as the hero in a fight against the 'deep state' and a sinister cabal of Democratic politicians and celebrities who abuse children. Child abuse hotline workers say believers in such unfounded theories are jamming up the lines, preventing true reports and children in need from getting through. What's more, when QAnon believers invoke the names of reputable organizations in their rhetoric, it tarnishes the good names of child welfare professionals. More than 100 anti-trafficking and child welfare organizations have already published an open letter warning of the dangers QAnon poses to their work.

  • AG William Barr Has Pro-Trump Protesters Show Up On His Doorstep

Over the course of his campaign for re-election, President Donald Trump has frequently accused opponent Joe Biden of corruption. Despite lacking any evidence, Trump and his allies have focused on Biden's son, Hunter Biden, and his business dealings in Ukraine. According to Business Insider, ardent Trump supporters grew impatient enough with the impasse that they showed up at AG William Barr's home to demand action. A dozen men showed up outside the Attorney General's home in the Washington, DC, suburb of McLean, Virginia on Saturday evening. They wore pro-Trump and anti-Biden shirts with messages like 'Biden Lies Matter,' 'Equal Justice Is Coming,' and 'Crooked Hillary for Prison.' The demonstrators called on Barr to 'lock up' Biden. Barr came out, shook their hands, and posed for photographs with them.

  • As Doors Slam All Around Him, Trump Spends Election Run-Up Ranting On Fox News

US President Donald Trump appears to be running out of lifelines to save himself politically. CNN reports Trump had hoped a range of pivotal events would turn the electoral tide in his direction, but they're vanishing as quickly as Halloween candy. A coronavirus vaccine hasn't been created. Nor has a massive stimulus package materialized. And the investigation into the Clinton Foundation was a bust. So the president has taken to dialing Fox hosts from the White House and ripping his senior-most Cabinet members for not delivering before election day. It's an unfamiliar experience for a man used to getting what he wants. He is in a completely different universe right now where nobody is left, really, to help him out of the jams he keeps getting himself into. • Nothing To See Here: Trump's Case Of COVID-19 Sends Campaign Into A Fever

For President Donald Trump, a positive diagnosis for COVID-19 couldn't have come at a worse time. Aside from the very serious risk to his health, focusing the nation's attention on the pandemic is the last thing the Trump campaign wants to do. As Trump has now been hospitalized, he's all but powerless to reset his reelection campaign around issues like the Supreme Court and the economy. Some world leaders, like British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, saw a bump in approval from the public following a coronavirus diagnosis. However, it's highly unlikely Trump will receive such grace. He mocked opponent Hillary Clinton in 2016 for contracting pneumonia. He has also jeered at Vice President Joe Biden numerous times for wearing masks and scrupulously observing public health recommendations.
